Product Description

The Apollo Phantom Headset is DBD Communication's definitive multi-user wireless solution, engineered for the most critical On Track and Off Track operations, including complex coordination like tandem lifting. Crucially, it is the ideal communication tool for the Crane/Machine Controller and the Machine Plant Operator, providing them with reliable, hands-free comms and integrated safety.

A core differentiating feature is its Headset to Headset Communication capability, allowing multiple users to connect and communicate without relying on a dedicated base station. This enhances mobility and simplifies setup for the controlling operative. Built for safety, it includes integrated Noise Protection (up to 23dB) to shield the user's hearing in loud environments while maintaining crystal-clear instructions via Dynamic Noise Reduction and an ITU G.712 compliant microphone. The unit supports continuous operation with up to 24 hours of active use on a rapid 3–4 hour charge, functioning reliably across extreme temperatures (−40∘C to +70∘C).

Product FAQs

What is the Apollo Phantom Wireless System used for?

The Apollo Phantom Wireless System is designed for safety-critical, highly coordinated On Track and Off Track operations in high-noise environments, such as tandem lifting. It serves as the ideal communication tool between Crane/Machine Controllers and Machine Plant Operators, providing reliable, hands-free duplex communication with up to 23dB of integrated hearing protection.

How many users can connect to the Apollo Phantom system?

Unlike standard 2-user systems, the Apollo Phantom is a true multi-user wireless system. The exact user capacity depends on your specific operational requirements and the number of Phantom units deployed in your setup.

What key feature sets the Apollo Phantom apart from other wireless systems?

The Apollo Phantom features direct Headset-to-Headset Communication (base-stationless capability). This allows multiple users to pair and communicate seamlessly without needing a central base station, enhancing team mobility and simplifying on-site setup.

What communication range does the system provide?

The system provides a reliable, drop-out-free wireless communication range of up to 100 metres, ensuring safety-critical instructions are delivered clearly across the work area.

How long does the battery last?

The Apollo Phantom Wireless System supports up to 24 hours of active use on a rapid 3–4 hour charge, ensuring continuous operation across long shifts and extended possessions.

Can the headset be worn with a hard hat?

Yes. The Behind-The-Head design is engineered for maximum comfort and compatibility with hard hats and other standard PPE used in rail and construction environments.

Why is my system crackling or cutting out at short range?

Short-range audio issues are typically caused by damaged or worn antennas. Inspect your headset antennas for physical damage and replace them if necessary. Always store antennas safely when the system is not in use.

What is included in the Apollo Phantom package?

What’s included depends on the total number of users ordered. Standard packages typically include primary and secondary Phantom headsets, a mains charger, a vehicle charger, a hi-vis rucksack for safe transport, and a system manual.

How should the headset be charged?

Headsets must be powered off during charging and charged exclusively using the provided mains or vehicle chargers. Using unauthorized third-party chargers may damage the internal charging board due to voltage discrepancies.
