The Athena Blocked Headset is a robust, Behind-The-Head style wireless communication unit engineered with integrated hearing protection for personnel operating in extreme noise environments. As a dedicated 2-user system, it is ideal for Outside Machine roles within On Track, RRVs, and General Engineering Teams.
A standout feature is the integrated Noise Protection (up to 23dB), shielding the user from hazardous machinery noise while maintaining crystal-clear communication. The headset utilizes Dynamic Noise Reduction and a high S/N ratio (>70dB) microphone to ensure safety-critical, ITU G.712 compliant voice clarity. The unit provides a reliable 100m range with a robust wireless link to prevent drop-outs. Crucially, it includes a Radio Interface Socket, allowing the user to connect to and communicate via a back-to-back radio, enhancing connectivity across wider Network Rail operations.
