On the Road This September
September sees dBD Communications exhibiting across both the aviation and rail sectors, with the team heading to Lisbon for GSE Expo Europe before returning to the UK for RIN Derby later that week.
GSE Expo Europe, Lisbon: 15–17 September
From 15–17 September, dBD Communications will be exhibiting at GSE Expo Europe at FIL Lisbon, one of the key meeting points for the international ground support equipment community.
CEO David and the team will be on Stand D21, showcasing dBD’s wireless communication technology and discussing how clear, reliable communication can help support safer and more effective ground handling operations.
With equipment suppliers, ground handlers and GSE professionals coming together from across the industry, the event provides another opportunity to meet existing partners, make new connections and discuss the challenges facing ground operations today.
RIN Derby: 17 September
On Thursday 17 September, dBD will also be exhibiting at RIN Derby, bringing the focus back to the rail sector at Derby Arena.
The event brings together more than 1,000 rail infrastructure professionals, with 180 exhibitor stands already sold out for 2026, creating a concentrated opportunity for suppliers, contractors and industry specialists to connect.
The dBD Communications’ rail team will be on hand to discuss its communication solutions, existing applications across the sector and how reliable communication can continue to support safer, more effective rail operations.
A New Chapter for dBD Communications
Following last month’s announcement, dBD Communications has now completed its move to new premises in Basildon, with the team operating from the new location from 1 September 2026.
The new base provides a practical platform for the next stage of the business, allowing dBD to operate efficiently, remain competitive and continue investing in the products, services and support its customers rely on.
For customers, it remains very much business as usual. The team continues to provide the same technical support, advice and service across rail, aviation, construction and other safety-critical industries from its new address:

Introducing Endaxi Lite: A Smarter Approach to Headset Testing
dBD Communications is pleased to introduce Endaxi Lite, a new compact, standalone solution designed to make aviation headset testing faster, simpler and more accessible.
In safety-sensitive ground operations, identifying a communications fault before equipment reaches the operational team can make a meaningful difference. Endaxi Lite provides a practical way to carry out repeatable headset checks away from the aircraft, helping teams identify microphone, speaker and channel faults quickly without the need for a PC, software or connection to aircraft systems.
For operators, stores and maintenance teams, this means a more consistent approach to testing, helping to reduce unnecessary equipment returns, improve maintenance efficiency and minimise the risk of faulty equipment reaching the point of use.
What’s In A Name? The Thinking Behind dBD’s Product Names
Following the launch of Endaxi Lite, we’re staying with the product theme – but this time looking beyond functionality to the thinking behind some of dBD’s most established product names.
For dBD Communications, names such as Athena, Apollo and Minerva were chosen to reflect something of the thinking, purpose and development story behind each system.
Athena
Associated with wisdom and heroic endeavour, Athena was the name chosen for one of dBD’s earliest major developments.
At the time, dBD Communications was competing against much larger, established organisations, while taking a different technical approach. The system used Bluetooth as its communication medium, delivering stronger link performance than the DECT technology being used elsewhere.
The Athena name therefore reflected both the intelligence behind the development and the ambition involved in challenging the established approach.
Apollo
Apollo is associated with help and protection – a fitting connection for a system developed around multi-user communication.
The focus with Apollo was on ensuring information could be shared clearly across multiple users, helping teams remain informed and connected during operations.
That principle remains central to the product: communication is most effective when the right information reaches the people who need it, when they need it.
Minerva
With Minerva, we moved from Greek to Roman mythology. Minerva is the Roman equivalent of Athena, making the name a deliberate continuation of the story.
The product builds on knowledge gained through Athena while extending dBD’s capabilities further. Where Athena and Apollo operate within dBD’s own communication ecosystem, Minerva introduces the ability to integrate with other systems, opening up a broader range of applications.
The name reflects that progression – taking established knowledge and applying it to the next stage of development.
From Endaxi Lite to Athena, Apollo and Minerva, the names may differ, but the thinking remains consistent: products developed around practical operational needs, clear communication and the environments in which they are used.
