Next Stop: GHI Asia – Driving the Future of Aviation Communication

Building on our commitment to advancing aviation communication, dBD Communications is gearing up for the Asian GHI Conference from 18-20 March 2025 at the stunning Ariyana Convention Centre in Vietnam. This premier gathering of industry leaders, from airlines and airports to ground handlers and suppliers, sets the stage for discussing the future of aviation in Southeast Asia.

Why GHI Asia is a Key Event for dBD Communications

As aviation continues its shift toward seamless wireless communication, we’re at the forefront of innovation. At GHI Asia, we’ll be showcasing our latest Apollo and Athena duplex systems, designed to enhance ground handling safety and efficiency with crystal-clear, cable-free communication up to 300 metres.

With wireless adoption gaining momentum, this event offers an ideal platform to demonstrate how our solutions are revolutionising critical operations like pushback, de-icing, and ramp handling — helping airlines and ground handlers streamline workflows while improving safety.

Next-Gen Systems: What’s Still to Come

Over the past few months, DBD Communications has been making waves with the preview of our next-generation wireless systems. From early deployments in America to securing key certifications, our latest innovations are set to transform ground handling, rail and beyond.

What’s Next?

Our journey began with a vision — to develop cutting-edge long-range Bluetooth communication solutions that enhance safety and efficiency. With extensive research, rigorous testing, and CE and FCC certifications, our next-gen systems are built to replace legacy technology with seamless, future-ready solutions. Real-world previews, including at Orlando International Airport, received outstanding feedback, with users praising the clarity and usability.

With trial activity underway in the rail and air sectors, these systems are continuing to gain momentum. As wireless communication adoption accelerates, we remain focused on refining and optimising our technology to meet the demands of an evolving industry. David O’Connell, CEO of DBD Communications, shares: “These next-gen systems are more than just an upgrade — they’re a transformation. We’re shaping the future of wireless solutions to keep pace with industry demands.

Product spotlights

Innovation comes in many forms, and at DBD Communications, we’re proud to offer a diverse range of solutions designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and communication across multiple sectors. This month, we’re putting the spotlight on five standout products making an impact! Contact the team to find out more about any of our diverse product offering…

Backup Cables

No communication system is completely immune to operational challenges. Even the most advanced wireless solutions can encounter unexpected disruptions, whether due to environmental factors, equipment wear, or external interference. That’s why, at DBD Communications, we emphasise not only the reliability of our core systems but also the importance of contingency planning.

To minimise the risk of communication loss, we recommend keeping an audio extension lead as part of your operational toolkit. This simple yet effective backup provides a direct connection to key operational areas, including the cockpit, ensuring clear and uninterrupted communication when needed. Speak to the team to find out how you can remain operationally ready at any moments notice.

Aircraft De-icing and Maintenance

Clear, real-time communication is essential for safe and efficient aircraft de-icing and maintenance. Our wireless duplex system connects 2-16 users, ensuring controllers, operatives, and the flight deck stay fully in sync.

For elevated platform work, our wireless headsets provide seamless coordination, while Cab Kits offer a reliable mic and speaker setup for enclosed environments. Multi-cab linking and intercom systems allow operators to switch between lanes, preventing disruption across teams. With radio integration and the ability to scale for multi-lane operations, our system ensures faster turnarounds, enhanced safety, and greater efficiency — wherever it’s deployed.

Minerva Air Pushback System

The Minerva Air system provides unrestricted movement for wing walks, inspections, and engineering tasks, ensuring clear, reliable communication without cables. Designed for pushback and airside operations, it’s a proven solution across various aircraft, including the B787 and A380.

In single-man operations, the Tug Driver wears a wireless headset, while in two-man operations, the Headset Man maintains contact with the Flight Deck using the Momentary Microphone button. For expanded communication, a 2 or 3-way splitter cable allows multiple operatives (such as training personnel, wing walkers, or Brake Riders) to stay connected throughout the operation.

Minerva Ajax Pushback System

Designed for high-noise airside operations, the Minerva Ajax system enhances communication by reducing background interference through its specialised mouth shield. The quick-release lanyard allows easy access, ensuring seamless pushback and towing coordination.

Operating in the same way as the Minerva Air system, Ajax provides wireless communication for single and two-man operations, ensuring seamless coordination between the Tug Driver, Headset Man, and Flight Deck.

Endaxi Testing System

The Endaxi system helps Ground Handling teams reduce No Fault Founds (NFFs) and improve equipment availability, ensuring headsets are fully operational before use.

Housed in a waterproof, portable case, it supports wired and wireless headsets, with DC battery power for full autonomy. A switch box allows users to test microphones, speakers, and audio extension leads, verifying equipment quickly and efficiently. With Endaxi, teams can confidently assess communication systems, minimising downtime and keeping operations running smoothly.

Driving Innovation Across Industries

This month’s update highlights how DBD Communications is shaping the future of wireless communication across aviation, rail, and ground handling. From our partnership with Bangkok Flight Services to the expansion of next-gen systems, we continue to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability which continually prove value in safety-critical operations — as Adie Summerscales, Engineering Manager at Balfour Beatty, notes:

With exciting industry offers available — including half-price rentals during servicing and early booking for Easter works — plus Andrew O’Connell’s nationwide rail consultations, we’re here to help businesses stay ahead with the best communication solutions available.
